I've got two copies of this album, one in normal stereo, one in quadraphonic. Larry Graham was one of the people responsible for taking the art of funk bass playing by the scruff of the neck and giving it a bloody good shake. This can be heard and downloaded here, on the stand out track from this album.
The Jam is just that, a jam, where all the band get to have a bit of a solo and introduce themselves to us. This produces not only one of the funkiest of funk tunes you're ever likely to hear, but a wicked breakbeat(when the drummer does his stuff) which has been sampled numerous times over the years by various hip hoppers - and what may possibly be the earliest example of a drum machine solo.
