Slave To The Rhythmn

Everyone's heard of Funkadelic. Everyone's heard of Parliament. Not everyone's heard of Slave...more's the pity.

Slave were around at the time when rock influences began to creep into funk, but they thankfully only ever dabbled with it, rather than going into the full-on 20 minute guitar solo stuff. I've been playing this record, their 1977 debut, a lot lately, their and it's fucking great.
Two members of the band went on to solo success in the eighties: Steve Washington and the old God-Botherer of the dance floor, Steve Arrington.

I once got into fisticuffs over this record. Me and my mate were playing a tape of it in a gym and some cloth-eared twat got all shirty and said to turn it off because it sounded like The Kids From Fame. Bastard. They had to drag me off him.
Do yourself a big funky favour and click here.

The tracks have got a little muddled on this d/l. This is the LP running order:

SEPARATED
